
Renowned Islamic scholar and Chief Imam of Dutsen Tanshi Jumaat Mosque in Bauchi, Dr. Idris Abdulaziz, has died after a long illness. He passed away on Thursday night, prompting widespread mourning across Bauchi State and among the wider Muslim community.
Dr. Abdulaziz was a respected religious leader known for his strong sermons and vocal stance on justice and societal issues. Funeral prayers are scheduled to take place in Bauchi at 10 a.m. on Friday.
In recent years, he had been involved in a legal dispute with the Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed. The cleric was facing charges related to alleged defamation and was once declared wanted by the state police for contempt of court.
