KS1 Malaika grew up in Agege, Lagos, where he was introduced to music at a Quranic school. He started by performing Were music, a traditional Islamic style sung during Ramadan. His parents, Alhaji Adeyemi Adekunle and Alhaja Fatima Abosede, supported his interest in music.
